Breast cancer awareness is about more than wearing pink. It is about turning awareness into action.  According to the CDC, mammograms can detect breast cancer before it is large enough to feel or causes symptoms, and early detection can make breast cancer easier to treat. 

Don't put off the appointment. Don't ignore a change. And don't let fear keep you from asking questions.

At New Life NexGen, our mission is rooted in a simple belief: helping someone today should also empower them for tomorrow.

That means sharing information. It means encouraging prevention and early detection. It means helping connect our neighbors with resources. And sometimes, it simply means reminding someone we love, 

"Have you scheduled your mammogram?"

And remember—breast cancer does not affect women alone. Men can develop breast cancer as well, although it is much less common.

For individuals and families in our area navigating cancer, organizations such as Cancer Support Services in Augusta and Can Hope Cancer Foundation in Aiken provide community-based support and assistance.

If cost or lack of insurance is preventing you from getting screened, the CDC's National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program also helps eligible low-income, uninsured, and underinsured women access free or low-cost breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services.
